How does the Sans-Arcidet brand inspire you?
Sans-Arcidet as a perfume
For me the Sans-Arcidet brand is first of all a perfume, the scent of raffia – a warm scent that has accompanied me throughout my life, that has bridged the gap with a part of my family that has always lived on the other side of the globe. These objects are like bridges that unite us through the beauty of Malagasy craftsmanship, a link maintained among others by these woven stitches. Finally, I have a very emotional relationship with the brand.
Your inspirations for this collection?
The family bond at the heart of the collaboration project
To compose this season’s pattern, I asked Corinne and Samuel, the brand’s artistic directors, to send me photos of their favorite flowers and plants from their gardens. I wanted to use the plants endemic to Madagascar, but in the end, taking their gardens as a starting point allowed me to go far from the exotic clichés while remaining close to the family fiber that is at the heart of this collaboration.
As for the colors, I first worked on the design with natural, soft and light tones with a very pale yellow background that reminds me of raffia. The variations are freer, we go more towards night flowers or flowers of celebration.
Your upcoming projects?
I’m currently editing “Une Histoire de Vaisselle Brisée”, a series of drawings I have been working on from 2020 to 2022, a book that has just been released, it was co-edited with Ardalan Yaghoubi and is currently exhibited at the Palais de Tokyo. I’m also working on a long comic book and many other more or less secret projects 🙂
A little quote that inspires you in your daily life
Poetry is my daily life
In my daily life I listen to a lot of music and in particular a lot of songs, my enjoyment of words and writing came from French songs. So, more than a quote that I don’t really have in my pocket right now, I’m sharing with you one of my favorite songs: “Les Bouquets d’Asphodèle” by Marie Laforêt
